Marit Larsen - Under The Surface

Now I don't normally do this. Actually I never do this. Especially on a website that's supposed to be all about my music.

But I've recently come across one of the greatest albums I've ever heard.

Under The Surface has completely swept me away.

Marit Larsen seems to know exactly how to wrap up a wonderful melody with magical chords, and that's before she gets to the knockout blow later on in the song. And she does it again and again.

For me, it's about as good as it gets.

If you haven't heard her yet, check out her MySpace page..

Hey, I know how you feel! Her music is seriously the best stuff I've probably heard in a decade. Of course, a decade ago, I wasn't a very good judge of music, being that I was 14.

I SERIOUSLY wish she would come stateside because her music is incredible and we need original musicians like her to balance out all the lyrically-retarded booty-shaking muck on the radio.

I'm going to be doing a cover of her songs "only a fool" and "the sinking game" in the next month or so that I'll be posting on my YouTube account. I'm actually a pretty good guitarist and singer so it's not going to be another horrible out-of-focus, out-of-tune fan-vid. I'm going to try to give it an original flair as well.

Anyway, nice to see someone giving her the props she deserves.

Totally agree with you. In fact, more than a decade for me!

Good luck with the covers. I played "This Time Tomorrow" at a couple of gigs last year. With some convoluted tuning on the Variax, but there you go..
